Rent threshold for assured shorthold tenancies (ASTs) delayed

The government's decision to increase the rent threshold for assured shorthold tenancies (ASTs) from 1 April 2010 has ben postponed until October.  The delay aims to help landlords prepare for the change.

Increased from £25,000 per annum to £100,000 per annum, the new threshold will be backdated to affect existing tenancies as well as those created after October 2010.
